A German field bakery: feeding the men in the trenches

Each wagon supplied 1,600 men. Each army corps of 40,000 had 25 of these wagons. The war rations included bread, biscuit, eggs, meat, beans, rice, dried vegetables, salt en coffee.
Napoleon said: 'An army travels on its stomach".
